Frequently asked questions

Q:   I think I need a solicitor, but I’m worried about the cost.
A:   Don’t worry. Our initial interview with you is free of charge to you, if you request this. We conduct most of our cases within the Legal Help Scheme or under a "no win, no fee" agreement. We shall never charge you unless we first explain why we need to make a charge AND you agree to this before we go ahead with the work. See our funding your case page for more information.

Q:   I’ve never been involved with the law: will I understand what the solicitor is saying?
A:   Our solicitors will explain what’s going on in plain English. Our solicitors are available on the phone throughout office hours to answer your questions or go over something you’re not sure about (if your own solicitor is busy when you ring, someone else will help you - or your own solicitor will ring you back). See our what our clients say page to see how our past clients rate our service.

Q:   I’m worried my case will take longer if I come to a solicitor - don’t lawyers just drag things out, with all their legal stuff?
A:   How long your case takes depends on the circumstances of your claim - but we have no interest in dragging things out. At Graham Bash & Company, you receive personal attention from a named solicitor who will move things on as quickly as possible.

Q:   I can’t get to your office. What can I do?
A:   We can visit local elderly, infirm and/or disabled clients in your own home: phone us for details.

Q:   I’m not sure if I have a case yet. Is it too soon to see a solicitor?
A:   It may be too soon to see a solicitor - but it’s never too soon to talk to a solicitor on the phone. If you don’t need to come to see us yet, we’ll tell you. If you wait too long before you get legal advice, you could make your problem worse. Ring us for a chat now.

Q:   My friend or relative needs to see a solicitor, but he or she doesn’t speak English very well. Do you have any interpreters?
A:   Unfortunately, we don’t know any interpreters who work without making a charge. However, why don’t you come with your friend or relative, and interpret for them? We have plenty of room to see you both.

Q:   I’m not sure if you deal with cases like mine.
A:   We do three kinds of civil law: personal injury, housing (tenants only) and employment (employees only). That’s not everything - but it does mean we are specialists.

Q:   I would prefer to see a woman solicitor. Can I do this?
A:   Yes, at Graham Bash & Company you can ask to see a female solicitor if you prefer. Most of our staff are female, so there’s almost always another woman to talk to, whenever you call.

Q:   I’ve never been to a solicitor before. What happens?
A:   When you ring, we’ll ask you some questions about your case - and if we know we can’t help you we shall try to recommend someone else who can. We’ll arrange an appointment for you to come to see us. At the appointment, we’ll advise you on your case and explain what we can do. If you want to go ahead - you’ve got yourself a solicitor!

Q:   Why should I come to Graham Bash & Company?
A:   If you want an experienced lawyer who will give your case personal attention in an easy, informal setting... come to Graham Bash & Company. We’ll let our past clients have the last word: what our clients say.
